Kind reminder that Yevgeny Zamyatin’s We is said to have inspired both of these novels (Orwell cites Zamyatin directly as an influence), and certainly predated them. Kind reminder that We exists and is an amazing novel and if you love this sort of dystopian novel you will enjoy and/or be ravaged emotionally by We.

I’m almost finished with Brave New World, and I read 1984 a couple months ago. I’d say that Huxley’s portrayal of social dynamics is more accurate for what is currently happening. I also would propose that Huxley’s world is more pleasant than Orwell’s. Also, Aldous didn’t mind drugs later in life.
